Glen Feochan, Kilmore - About 6 miles from Oban, there are numerous walks out of this glen and nearly all of them take you to remarkable waterfalls.
Glen Lonan - connecting Oban and Taynuilt, this glen gives great views of Ben Cruachan and usually has a good herd of highland cattle beside the road.
Ben Lora, Benderloch - with just 1000ft of ascent to the summit, Beinn Lora has to be one of the finest viewpoints over the Firth of Lorn.
Mull and Iona - take a boat to Mull for a day, there are fabulous walks straight off the ferry at the other end (Craignure) or you may wish to take one of the excursions to Iona or the Treshnish Isles.
Ganavan Bay - as Oban's main beach, this can get busy on a sunny day but it is the start of a great coastal walk to Dunstaffnage Castle and back with views as far as Ballachulish and the Garvellachs.
Worth a visit are the gardens at Arduaine (pronounced Ardoonie) near Kilmelford and Crarae on Loch Fyne. Combine a visit to Castle Stalker with Kinlochlaich Gardens on the edge of Appin village.
